The Advocate
Shonda Gilyard is a National Board-Certified Advocate in Special Education (B.C.A.S.E.) with a deep belief that education is a lifelong process and that all students can learn, including students with disabilities. She understands that meaningful progress happens when families and schools work together as a strong, informed support team.

With a combined 31 years of experience in education, Ms. Gilyard brings discipline, organization, and clarity to advocacy work—while remaining grounded in compassion for students and families. Her professional background spans both general and special education and includes roles such as teacher, lead teacher, program coordinator, contact teacher, preschool teacher, PBIS Coach, and A.S.P.I.R.E. Trainer. These experiences allow her to effectively navigate systems, language, and procedures from both sides of the table.

Ms. Gilyard holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education/Special Education, a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education, a Reading Endorsement, and a Specialist of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Mercer University.
The Vision Behind the Work
Throughout her career as an educator, Ms. Gilyard recognized a critical need for informed advocacy for students with disabilities. Upon retirement, that recognition became a calling—and Innovative Informative Services, L.L.C. was created to help meet that need.

Through the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET), Ms. Gilyard earned her Board Certification in Special Education Advocacy. Today, she serves as a professional advocate and consultant committed to ethical practice, meaningful collaboration, and outcomes that truly support student success.
